Samporna Sari Beauty & Spa

December 28, 2012

Im all for traditional spas, specifically South East Asian ones like Thai, Balinese, Malay, etc. You won't see me going in slimming centres and such like all those SUPER expensive ones that just want to sell their products, no-oh.

I was browsing Groupon one day and found a head to toe spa package for a cheap price, only RM 64 instead of RM 204 for 2 hours and 15 minutes and location (Kota Damansara)  was the plus point! I didn't hestitate to click the Buy Now button.

Location is the first thing I look for in Groupon. I will only take the ones near TTDI like Bandar Utama, Damansara, Bangsar, Kelana Jaya. haha. What about you? Does location matter to you when purchasing a Groupon? :)

So I booked my session on one fine morning and left 45 minutes prior, though my house is like 10 minutes away because I wasn't sure of the location, not so pro with the KD shoplots. I was looking for their signage "Samporna Sari Beauty & Spa". The spa is located at The Strand, not the Papparich side, it's the Gulati's side. I was going round and round but couldn't find the spa, so I called them for directions. After 15 minutes of looking despite the directions given (boo me), finally found it. It's located next to I-Hotel, behind Kia Motor. You need to take the lift located next to the hotel. I was relieved to see their banners placed near the lift and some posters in the lift :)

The Pamper Package that I bought includes:
  • 45-min crystal saltwater foot soak and scrub, foot mask and massage
  • 60-min full body massage with soothing eye mask
  • 30-min hair and scalp treatment and massage with coconut bath cream and aromatherapy oil
Now let's get into details of my treatment!

*Note that I MAY miss out some details of the treatment because this was done end of October and I can't remember the EXACT details. Spa owner, if I forget to mention some things, Im sorry!! :(

I was greeted by a friendly young lady who told me to get into my treatment room and changed into a robe, and she would be waiting for me at the salon area.

Salon area

1) She started off the treatment by applying coconut oil to my entire scalp. Coconut oil works to reduce scalp itchiness, hair fall, and dandruff problems. I thought this was a good one for me because I do have scalp problem. The therapist did a good job in massaging my head and neck (really needed the neck one!! BLISS!) so that the oil was fully absorbed into my scalp.

Okay as Im writing this right now, I can't remember if the next step was the head steamer or just wrapped my head into a hot towel and proceeded to foot spa... Im sorry, guys. I really can't remember...

Anyway, after hair, I went to the foot spa area where another therapist took over.

Foot Spa & Mani Pedi Area

2) She began by soaking my feet into warm saltwater for about 5 to 10 minutes for detox, to get rid of bacteria, sweat, and dead skin. I like the feeling of soaking feet into warm's like your whole body suddenly feels warm as well.

After foot soak, the therapist scrubbed my feet to slough away dead skin and smooth out rough parts of the feet and massaged it at the same time. Then she washed it off and applied foot mask to complete the ritual of a foot spa. If im not mistaken the mask was green! I felt like Shrek at one point. haha. She left it about 15 minutes, so I took out some magazines while waiting. It was kind of awkward because the spa is pretty much like an open at the foot spa area is located next to the reception and there is no wall between it. While I was reading my magazines, other therapists were chitchatting at the reception.. I just felt awkward because I was alone..I usually go to spas with a friend..

When the mask dried, she washed it off and I was completely amazed by the result. My feet were delicate, fairer, and... clean! I could see that the dark spots that I usually have on my feet are less.

3) Then, I went into my treatment room for a full body massage for an hour. She  massaged my feet and worked her way up. My favourite parts to be massaged are legs, back and head. I feel that hand/arm massage can be painful at times. The massage was alright, the pressure was light because I was on my period..

Treatment rooms

After massaging the whole body, she placed a herbal eye pillow onto my eyes. She left it on for about 10 minutes..I really like this one..the pillow is warm, smells of herbs or tea, really soothing and I feel fresh when I opened my eyes.

4) Lastly, the therapist washed my hair and blew dry it. Coconut oil really made my hair softer :)

Turn Ons:
  • The hair spa using coconut oil was a plus point.
  • Foot mask that worked wonders to my feet
  • Relaxing light massage
Turn Offs:
  • The chit chatting staff at the reception while I was getting my massage done. I was a little bit bothered by that because I could hear every word they said.

My Top 10 Happenings of 2012

December 27, 2012

In a few days, it'll be a new beginning for all of us. 2013 is approaching (boo you, Mayans!) and I still can't process in my head that my little sisters are growing up, and I am.. well getting old? haha

2012 has definitely taught me a lot about love, life, and the real world. I can say that I travelled a lot this year due to graduation, and was fortunate to visit places that I've been dying to see.. I also got my first job this year and it showed me a lot about the perks and dirts of a corporate world and helped me to see what I really wanted to do..

2012 has been a rollercoaster ride for me - and Im proud to have awesome friends and family by my side to go through the days.

As the year coming to an end, I would like to reminisce and share with you my favourite moments of 2012; where I've been or what I've done.

Here we go!

10) Everyday I'm shuffling... LMFAO CONCERT *dance*

THE BEST concert of the year that I went to ! Danced all night and not even a single song that I stopped dancing. The best part? Everybody shuffled when that song came out. I could feel the thumping of the floors and it seemed like it almost cracked. The atmosphere was out of this world!!..Everybody just have a good time..

9) Interviewing celebrities was part of my job!

I was given the opportunity to interview a number of celebrities for my job..namely Mia Sara Nasuha, Fizo Omar, Elfira Loy, and Kaka Azraff.. Thanks to one of the clients for their amazing projects :) This is a photo of me and Mia Sara Nasuha, one of Malaysia's famous child actress after interviewing her for Hari Raya. Adorable :)

8)  Seawalking in Sabah!

Ahhhhhhh! Nothing beats the joy of waking under the sea! I was like an astronaut but instead of walking in space, I was walking in the clear blue waters of Sapi Island. Such an experience. I love the sea!

7) Sunbathing on the gorgeous islands of Koh Phi Phi, Thailand!

Just look at the photo. No editing needed. No awesome camera needed. The island is beautiful as it is!!

6) Pride Festival, London

I was in London in July to visit my friends and of course for holidays. I managed to catch one of the world's most famous events -The Gay Pride Festival which was celebrated everywhere in London. I could never forget seeing cheeky, wild, and sexy costumes worn by men! There are no other days where you see good looking male models strut around London, topless.

5) The FIRST cousin to get married!

My cousin (the guy in purple with the tengkolok on his head) , is the first cousin to get married. After so much pressure of when is the big day and with who, he finally did it! haha. Who's next? The grandmother is hinting..none other and my elder sister. Long way to go, grandma..

4) The FIRST pumpkin to get married!

My best friend, Farhana was the first among us girlfriends to get married! If this is your first time reading my blog, my girlfriends and I we call ourselves pumpkins, since we were 14? And it got stuck till today and perhaps forever! So don't get confused, because Im not talking about a round orange fruit. Last time we would talk about highschool, and now we talk about marriage! OMG. Now Farhana is 3 months pregnant!

3) I went to Scandinavia!

After used to having a number of Finnish neighbours who happened to go to the same college as I was, I couldn't wait to go to Finland because their culture was REALLY different and I wanted to experience it for myself. Despite the quiet Finnish and individualistic culture, I loved their nature more than anything else.

2) I climbed The Great Wall of China!

Errrr..correction. I climbed the starting point of The Great Wall of China. haha. Was not fit enough to go up there. I did climb a few steps and was out of breath. Dad took the family to Beijing in April. Subhanallah, Im still amazed on how they built the wall.

Ready to see what's my number ONE???

I finally graduated from HELP University College!! So happy to see most of my coursemates graduated together too! It is undeniably true that your college years are the best years of your life. I was holding back tears on graduation day. Im proud of what I've achieved thus far! Alhamdulillah :)

There you go! Those are my top 10 unforgettable memories of 2012 :)

LFM Charity Bazaar 2012

December 11, 2012

Bazaars. Charity work. Combine the two? You get a happy girl: moi. This is my second time participating in this bazaar organizes by Lung Foundation of Malaysia (LFM). My best friend, Ad, her dad is the chairman of this foundation, and the girls and I volunteer to help out in this fun charity activity!

LFM Charity Bazaar is organized every two years, and 2012 is the second one. This year's bazaar is attended by Chef Ismail who shows a cooking demonstration and sells his delicious treats as well. Not forgetting Malaysia's legendary diva Sharifah Aini, who comes to visit to show her support. Pak Lah and wife are supposed to come, but due to unforeseen circumstances, they can't make it.

We decide to sell pre-loved clothes and books, brand new Punjabi suits directly imported from Bangladesh, and delicious mouth-watering cupcakes, whoopie pies, wraps, and cold drinks to complete the lot. We book two booths, one for the food, and one for the clothes.

Me and Haneesa take care of the clothes booth. Look at the fashion board, 'Wear It Like A Celeb' made by Haneesa! The pictures show the similar items we sell at our booth. Even if it's pre-loved, you can still wear 'em like a celeb!

 Now here comes the neighbour!

Aiysha, one of the best bakers I know, sells her famous cupcakes of Honey Vanilla flavour! I think I buy quite a number of em. It's too delicious, I can't resist. Oh and it is sold out too!! Good job Aiysha!

Farhana sells her signature mixed soda drinks, the Italian Soda! The perfect drinks to quench your thirst in this humid country. The whoopie pies are Aiysha's too; banana flavour. My favourite!

WRAPS!!! Munch on this the whole day at the bazaar. There are creamy mushroom and chicken ball!

Getting pretty busy there!

Tanvir & Ad who sell the yummy wraps, Farhana & Farhan (the newlyweds) sell the Italian Soda.

Eventhough it is raining the whole day, that doesn't stop visitors from coming and enjoying themselves at the bazaar. I feel that previous bazaar was more happening because it didn't rain. But that's alright, definitely looking forward to 2014!

25% of sales are given to the foundation.

If you're planning to open a booth at any bazaar, here's some tips to keep in mind :
  • Bring plastic table covers to cover your food and banners just in case it rains.
  • Bring trolleys to transfer your goods from your car to the booth. That backache can be avoided ;)
  • Always have pen and papers with you to jot down your sales.
  • Bring foldable chairs if you have and if you feel that it's not enough for your party in the booth.
  • Put everything in boxes or a huge plastic bag (like those IKEA blue ones) so you don't have to put them in many small bags. This is easier for you to put on the trolley.
  • Wear light clothing if it's a hot day.
  • Bring umbrellas just in case it rains.
  • Don't forget mosquitoe repellant if your bazaar is surrounded by nature.

Yeap, lessons learnt ;)

Please share your tips here on running a booth, so we can learn from each other.

Written by ImLibSkyFe  (taken from

My Comments: I haven't watched Breaking Dawn Part 1 so I had no idea what happened. I was worried if I didn't understand Part 2. But no worries to all who are just like me, you won't get confused or lost if you want to watch Part 2 but haven't watched Part 1. Honestly, Im not a HUGE fan of Twilight and Im not one of those who choose which team I prefer. Maybe because I couldn't accept the fact that vampires sparkle, instead of getting burnt in presence of sunlight. HEH. But I admit, I like watching Twilight Saga because of the actions and storyline is not that bad too. I like fantasy. So yeah. In this final movie of the saga, Bella definitely looks better, better hair and makeup! *Thank you makeup artist, FINALLY*. I wished the producers feature more actions in this final episode, though the war scene was good. And also I love the fact that vampires from around the world gather to battle. I like the nostalgic credit to flashback the casts too! I can say that the movie is fine, but not as awesome as I expected it to be.

Rate: 3.5/5

So peeps, now that Harry Potter is over, Twilight is over..what else can we look forward too? I feel that it's the end of my generation. :(
