Le Ann Maxima Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

April 30, 2013

"Secret Garden: a Summer Hiatus for the Socialite" is the theme for Le Ann Maxima's Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Imagine wearing colourful dresses in lush green settings of a secret garden.. beautiful, right?

The collection was launched on 25 April at The Scot's in Jaya One. Thank you Alex from Le Ann Maxima for having me, and thank you to Butterfly Project for letting bloggers know about this fashion show! :) The venue is just perfect and cozy to host such event. I may come back to The Scot's again!

This collection focuses on the beauty of pastels that complement the season. Pastel colours like Sea Foam Green, Lemon, Lilac and Salmon are chosen to create this collection. Accompanied with Monochrome tones of Ink Black, Ivory and Cool Grey, the collection is a mixture of elegance and fun with pattern prints of Abstract Floral, Psychedelic collage as well as Geometric.

I can't take my eyes off that baby blue pants!

With the rising trend of colour blocking, Le Ann Maxima adds collage effect to complete the line. The key embellishments of this season's collection are frills. There were dresses of 60's retro designs too!

Which one do you like most?

Witnessing these beautiful pieces remind me of fairy tale story settings; garden full of beautiful flowers. This collection can be worn for formal or casual event, or even your everyday wear. The soft colours and universal design are easy to mix and match. I really like this collection, especially the colourful dresses and pants!

The team behind the success of Le Ann Maxima Spring/Summer 2013 collection and celebrity friends, socialites, models and guests.

Review: Timeless Truth Instantenous Brightening Cooling Mask

April 29, 2013

Hi, everyone! Are you looking for a mask that cools, moisturizes, and whitens at the same time? Then keep reading :)

Recently, I participated in Plus Size Kitten and Timeless Truth biggest reviewing mask party! Thank you for choosing me to be one of the lucky bloggers to receive these great masks from Timeless Truth. Let's see what I have to say about this mask!

TT Instantenous Brightening Cooling Mask falls under the moisturizing category. It contains:
  • Stay -C 50 : Reduces dark spot and best active ingredient for whitening.
  • m-Tranexamic Acid : Reduces melanine growth and pigmentations
  • Hyaluronic Acid : Keeps skin hydrated and moisturized.
  • Menthol : Refreshes and soothes skin.

Look at the excess serum! Make sure you use them up all over your face and neck as well. Don't waste..

I left the mask on for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, I massaged the excess serum onto my face and neck after removing the mask. It was perfect fit and easy application.

The moment I put on this mask, I felt the cooling sensation immediately. Automatically I felt more awake and refreshed. Honestly, I was kind of sleepy before putting on this mask! Even when I opened the sachet, the minty scent from the mask made me feel fresh all of a sudden. I love peppermint! Besides cooling, it moisturized and smoothened my skin as well for a few days. I need to be more rajin in using masks at least once a week to get long-term results. hehe. My pores on cheeks and nose are less visible too!

This is definitely a great mask after 'torturing' yourselves under the sun all day long, especially us Malaysians! Give your skin a break with this mask. Imagine this..when you get home, shower, put on this mask, and relax.. wahhh syiok! The cooling sensation is the best!

Review: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 090 Sweet Tart

April 25, 2013

Ahhh..the lip butter craze has been going on since years ago and is still loved by many today, including me! Here is my pick..well it's the ONLY Revlon lip butter I have. haha.

Yes, Im only left with this much. That shows how much I LOVE THIS LIPPIE!

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 090 Sweet Tart is a bright pink shade, or some say Barbie pink. I feel that this is a nice pink, suitable for both day and night wear. It's not as strong as magenta, fuschia or hot pink but still gives you that POP of colour. This shade complements well those with pink undertone and light to medium skintone.

  • This award-winning collection contains mango, shea, and coconut butter formula to boost lip moisture. It works as a lip balm, gloss, and lipstick. All in one! I don't need to apply lip balm before applying this. It moisturizes and hydrates my lips at the same time.
  • Revlon Lip Butter gives me shine, not as strong as a lipgloss, but just the perfect buttery shine. It is not shimmer either. Its wet formula makes it easy to glide on and as for this colour, I don't need much to make my lips 'pop'.
  • In terms of longevity, it wears off after 2 hours for me, though I expect it to stay on for 5 or 6 hours. I need to reapply it at least three times if Im out the whole day.  I think it's because of the wet formula.. because when I eat, even just a bite of something, it fades. This is a bummer.

But overall, I LOVE this product! I can't wait to get my hands on other shades. *korek tabung*

Review: ZA Perfect Fit Two-Way Foundation in PO10

April 20, 2013

There are times when Im lazy to put on liquid foundation or bb cream, especially when it's scorching hot out there (when is it not hot in Malaysia? haha). I opt for powder instead because it's quicker to apply when Im in a rush, and now I want to share with you my latest favourite powder foundation. I'm obsessed with this!

ZA Perfect Fit Two-Way Foundation

It is the latest powder for ZA makeup from Spring/Summer 2013 collection. It contains "Micro-fine Powder to correct uneven skintone, Poreless Powder formula to fill in uneven pores, Water-holding Collagen, Vitamin E, and Hyaluronic Acid to retain skin's moisture."

(sorry for the low quality photos, im no pro in taking snaps)

  • Packaging - The glossy mirror cover is nice and genius. Why? Because you get two mirrors, one is inside when you open it. The casing and powder are sold seperately, so you can refill the powder. The girly pink is a plus point for me.
  • Texture - It's soft and smooth. You can tell it's a light weight base when you test it with your fingertips. Perfect if you sweat on your nose and forehead often.
  • Suitable for those with light or medium skin tone, but with pink undertone.
  • It doesn't have a strong scent..I know some powders do!
From the photo above, you can see that my skintone is even out. In the 'before' picture, my forehead is darker then my cheeks. Application is easy, using the sponge given is good enough for me.

Right after applying the powder, I feel like the powder is too white for me. Then, I notice after a few minutes, it looks completely natural and flawless. So if you feel like you bought the wrong shade, don't fret. Wait a few minutes and see if it changes. This powder foundation gives you medium to high coverage. I didn't put much on and I could see the difference it made.

It feels lightweight on my skin, like I have nothing on. It helps with my oily skin as well. My nose and forehead doesn't shine as much throughout the day. Hooray!

However, Im still not sure about it retaining moisture because I haven't felt that it has just yet. But, it was not cakey at the end of the day, so that's good! I didn't get any breakout after using this as well.

I complete my look with eyeliner, mascara, blush and a pink lippie. This is my go-to everyday look! :)

I really love this powder foundation! It gives me that natural finish yet good coverage.

Naab Persian Fine Cuisine @ Solaris Mont Kiara

April 18, 2013

Hi everyone! Put your hands up if you're a fan of middle eastern cuisine! Honestly speaking, I rarely have middle eastern food because I like to surprise myself once in awhile, and when I do have 'em, it's like a whole new adventure. Last week, my family and my sister's future in laws had dinner at Naab, a restaurant that serves authentic fine Persian cuisine.

It is by far one of the best Persian restaurants in Kuala Lumpur having two branches; one in Solaris Mont Kiara and the other at the heart of Bukit Bintang.

My family let the Persians ordered whatever they recommended because they know best about their food. Oh  yeah, my sister is getting married to a Persian :)

Here's a sneek peak of the menu and what I had!

Firstly, we were served with a lime juice (complimentary!) that got me off my seat. haha. It was super sour and a little bit thick but still drinkable. I was told that the culture when dining in Persia is the food would come a little bit later because they want the guests to sip some drinks and have a chit chat, relax and enjoy each other's company. The watermelon juice came when our food was ready, so we had more drinks! yay :)

After 15 or 20 minutes or so, (which was not that long for me!), the star of the show landed on our tables. ATTTACKKKK!

Majority of the kebab dishes come with Saffron rice!

Hot Bread - Soft, fluffy, crispy and delicious on its own! If you feel it's too plain for you, eat it with the kebab. SUPER YUMS!

Tabouleh Salad - A combination of tomato, cucumber, parsley, bulghur and lemon juice. It's a little bit sour but I could eat it on its own as well. I ate it with the hot bread, and it blew my mind away!

Saffron Rice - Basmati rice mixed with Saffron. Delicious and good for those on diet but still want to eat rice :) Mixed it with an unsalted butter, it tasted divine.

Lamb Koobideh Kebab & Boneless Chicken - Marinated and barbecued to perfection. Barbecued lemons and tomatoes on the sides. The lamb and chicken were juicy, tender and just perfect!! I was not sure of the marination sauces & spices but it tasted SO GOOD. It wasn't oily, that's the best part. I ate it with Saffron rice and the hot bread as well. What a perfect combo!

Naab is very spacious as you can see which I think it's good, easier for customers and waiters to move around. The decoration is simple but still reflects the architecture and designs of traditional Persia.

This is perhaps my favourite Middle Eastern restaurant so far. The manager and staff were really friendly toward us and made sure we were okay and got everything that we ordered. I'd love to come back and recommend it to all of you! :)

Dip 'n Dip @ Jalan Telawi,Bangsar

April 16, 2013

Chocolate lovers, if you haven't tried this chocolate heaven, then you should NOW!! (provided if it's still open at whatever hour you're reading this post haha!). My friend, Wanie was craving for some chocolate goodness and she mentioned dip 'n dip. I've heard so many good things about this place, so I gave it a go!

Dip 'n dip was found in Syria in 2009, and today it has branches in Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Qatar, and UAE.

Let's start with the interior. Dip 'n dip's deco main theme colours are red, black, and brown which I feel suit what they're all about; chocolate. Despite using warm tones, it doesn't stray from focusing on relaxing and calming ambiance. Accompanied with the sweet scent of chocolate, I could almost snooze in my comfy couch.

The moment we were seated, we were greeted by a friendly waiter handing us the menu. Look what is on the first page of the menu! Im one of those that read everything on the menu, so I've gotta read this one. HILARIOUS!

Now let's look at what they have to fulfill your chocolate cravings!
Wanie is a regular here and she suggested that we should share whatever we were about to order because the portion is huge and we may get a bit 'muak' later because of the chocolate. Oh Im ready for this!

You can see that they have so many types of chocolate meals; crepe, waffles, dips, cakes, muffins, cookies and so much more! I didn't snap every page of the menu because I don't want to spoil it for you, though I think I have by uploading these two pages. I just want to give you the idea of what they have and their pricing.  Trust me peeps, there are more than this! I didn't know what to order because there were so many that I wanted to try but of course, my purse didn't have that much money at that time..

Wanie recommended the Fettuccini Crepe (RM 29 for the largest size) and we shared this because definitely I couldn't finish this alone.

The Fettuccini Crepe is not the fettuccini pasta ok! Don't freak out. I freaked out at first, I mean..chocolate and pasta? That's a weird combo. It was actually strips of crepe that looks like fettuccini. Creative! A giant scoop of vanilla ice cream was at the centre, perfected with chocolate poured all over. The best part was when the waiter poured the chocolate right in front of our eyes instead of doing it in the kitchen. Style!

When I first tasted this, I couldn't help but taking in more and more. The crepe was properly done, not too thick and not too thin, and the chocolate was warm and rich which definitely made me feel like all my money was worth it. It was milk chocolate because Im no fan of dark chocolate. It was very delicious and addictive. However, after consuming more than half of the plate, I started to feel 'muak', so I had to stop. Next time I will come here with an empty tummy! The vanilla ice cream gave it a plus point to cool your tastebuds so you won't feel it's too chocolatey. Overall, Im very happy to spend my evening here and super satisfied with the Fettuccini Crepe! Their chocolate was TO DIE FOR, I can guarantee you that!

Lesson learnt. STAY HEALTHY!

April 09, 2013

Hello dear friends! If you notice, I haven't blogged for some time, despite the ABPBH winners quick post that I figured I should post just for the fun of it. I meant to say that I haven't written a PROPER blogpost like reviews, events and more because I fell ill for the past 2 weeks.

I feel like sharing what happened to me right now since Im in the mood to blog.
So what happened to me?

Well, on one 'fine' morning, I woke up around 9am (very rare to wake up this early especially when Im unemployed) to go to the loo.. not to pass urine, but to let go the big one. This is very rare because I usually go to the loo AFTER breakfast, and not before. I found it very weird and I felt something was not right with my tummy. It started to ache and I felt like I was about to have fever. On that day too was the meet and greet with Kimora Lee Simmons at Starhill Gallery. OH YES BE JEALOUS!! Those who didn't know about it, shame on you because it was open to public!

And yes, SHE IS SUPER TALL! I feel like a midget. No joke. Not to mention, she's super friendly, humble and funny woman! I love her :)

I may look happy and excited, but honestly, I was crying inside throughout the whole entire time because I got stomach ache! Right after the meet and greet, I rushed over to the loo!

When I got home, I took up some tummy ache or diarrhea relief pills such as Charcoal and Colospan. I definitely had diarrhea because I couldn't stop going to the loo and vomiting. For three days straight, I was doing those two activities and had no appetite to eat anything at all. I just drank water to keep myself hydrated. I know it sounds horrible to not be able to eat, I tried eating crackers, but I could barely finish a whole piece. Something was clogging my chest or blocking my esophagus. On the 4th night, I felt something was stuck in my chest.. I couldn't sleep well and had breathing difficulties.

The next morning, I went to a clinic nearby to get myself checked. The doctor said my upper tummy hurt because my digestive system was going loco, and that there was so much wind and acid in my upper tummy which led to shortness of breath. She gave me some wind relief pills, probiotics, and medicine to stop me from vomiting so that I can swallow some food at least. The probiotics helped in curing my diarrhea and indigestion, but I still couldn't eat anything and my upper tummy and chest were still in pain.

I figured maybe my body was slow in adapting to drugs because I hardly fell ill or had anything wrong with my internal stuff. I decided to let the medicine worked its way in my system for a few days..

On the 8th day, my dad suggested to go to a hospital instead to check what's happening inside my body, just in case if there was a tummy ulcer, etc. I went to the hospital to get it checked, did ultrasound, blood test..  and results said that there was nothing wrong in my body and my blood is fine, my blood pressure are alright, nothing worrying.. But why was I still feeling this PAIN IN MY CHEST! It became so annoying, I started to lose my patience.

Then, the doctor at the hospital gave me some medicine to calm my muscle cramps because it could be that my tummy was toning down to the medicine, it needed something more simple so that I didn't feel the pain..

But no, that night, and the next morning, I still couldn't swallow anything, and chest was still in pain.. I never had athma! So what could it be!

My parents decided to try traditional healing instead, since the scientific way didn't work well. I went to AKUBEKAM in TTDI to do Bekam. If you don't know what it is, Bekam is body cupping, where they suck out all your dirty blood so your body feels lighter, healthier and stronger. Bekam is known to cure many illness. Ya Allah..if this didn't work, I didn't know what else to do..

The treatment started off with a consultation about my body and which parts of the body needed to do Bekam. For me, I needed to bekam my chest, tummy, back, and head. Firstly, the therapist put the cup on my chest, pumped it really tight to my skin.. and to my surprise, the cup was like 'steamed' and there were bubbles coming out from my skin. The therapist said those were all my extra wind and uric acid in my body which has been giving me shortness of breath. OMG FINALLY IT WAS OUT!!

Next, she started to pin my chest with a number of needles to make holes for the blood to come out, put back the cup on, pumped it really tight, and let the dirty blood out. Oh my..the blood was thick and dark.. That's how dirty my blood was! OMG.

She repeated the same process to the rest of the areas that needed to Bekam. Instantly, right after the session, I COULD FINALLY BREATHE AND NO MORE STOMACH ACHE. And the best part was I COULD FINALLY EAT! TERUS MAKAN MEEHOON GORENG!! Bayangkan 10 days I didn't have PROPER MEAL.

Did I mention I lost 7 kg throughout these whole 10 days of sickness!

The Bekam therapist said there was too much uric acid in my body.. So I need to low down on seafood, soy, and sushi! Boohoooo..  Alhamdulillah, finally im 100% recovered.

It was clearly the acid and the wind that was blocking my chest.. Thank goodness for Bekam, all those toxin were out.

After all of these, I learnt a valuable experience. All these while, I ate like mad at anytime and anything. I didn't bother to take care of my health. Now that my digestive system 'exploded' and got pissed off, it's a wake up call for me to start on some diet and eat healthier food. After all.. we're not getting younger each day.

Starting from today, I want to live a healthy lifestyle! So traumatised of not eating for 10 days.. haha.

Have you tried Bekam before? You should do it even when you're not sick, just to get that dirty blood out so your body won't feel tired or lethargic. Try it!

 XOXO

Lina
