Happy New Year, a new journey.

January 04, 2015

Assalamualaikum...Alhamdulillah, let's all welcome the new year with full thankful and syukur for all the blessings and rezeki He has showered upon us all these years. Praise to God, we are still here today, welcoming 2015 with new hopes and resolutions.

Some of you may have noticed, some may not, that I have started wearing the hijab since the first day of Hari Raya 2014. It's something that I've always wanted to do for so long but have not had the courage to do so, though I know it's wajib for a Muslim woman. Just a little story to share with all of you. Early 2014, I suddenly had this natural instinct or orang kata, terbuka hati, to wear hijab. After seeing many of friends who had berhijrah to be a better Muslimah, hati ni tergerak nak do the same thing. If they could do it, why couldn't I? Bukan copycat, if the changes are for the better, and make me a BETTER muslim, why not? See what I mean?
So, I've been feeding myself with Islamic knowledge, getting to know the Quran more, improving my solat, and try to be closer to Him. I asked opinions from my families, friends and my love who has been advising me a lot about Islam with his 'dakwah' mode (hehe!), and they were happy and supportive with the decision that I wanted to make. I borrowed my mom's and sis's hijabs once in awhile to try it out in my room to see if it looked good on me. And my oh my.. never have I felt so comfortable and more 'berseri' in my life when I tried 'em on. From then on, I told myself, "this is it, I'm gonna do it". I started calling my friends to accompany me to get new clothes that would cover my aurah and a number of shawls as to start. On the first day of Hari Raya, I walked down the stairs with my hair covered in a beautiful piece of cloth, my hijab. From that day on, I knew my life would change but Im ready to embrace the challenges because I know at the end of the day, it's my decision, solely.

5 months later, so far so good. My family and friends have been supportive and giving me great advice. Thank you guys, you know who you are! May God bless you. I'm beyond blessed to have awesome families and friends by my side who always know the right words to say when I feel down and such. I'm not going to lie, but there are times where I have this evil dialogue in my head "Alaaa..such a pretty short skirt..sayangnya takleh pakai sebab dah pakai tudung..". I know I just have to ignore that evil whispers, and be patient because patience lead to happiness and satisfaction..insyaAllah. Families and friends, please remind me if I ever go out of my way.

So that's it..just a little hijab story from me..nothing big or surprising. I'm glad I found this light and it's the best decision I've ever made in my life. Let's all remind each other, be nice to each other, and be a better Muslim because the world is getting older, and so are we. My Quran reading is not perfect, my solat is not perfect, none of us are perfect because we cannot run from mistakes. But what can be done is learning from the mistakes and taking baby steps to change for the better. Let's do this together and insyaAllah, we will feel a big difference in our lives. Happy New Year, and may 2015 bring you more happiness, challenges, laughters, and rezeki! :)

So what's my new year's resolutions?
  • Be more rajin to improve Islamic knowledge.
  • Less complaining on extra task/job given.
  • Be more thankful for all the challenges eventhough it ruins your whole day badly.
  • Find something good/bright side in EACH day.
  • Work harder to kahwin..(hehe gatai!)
  • Control my anger and words.
  • Be softer.. (haha boleh ke ni? Im so garang tau!)
What about you? What's your new year's resolutions? :)
